Definition of Interface Management in Projects
Interface management is another project management process, and is quite closely linked to change management:
- a change to one contractor’s scope can lead to interface issues to be resolved with another contractor – or even a change to their scope;
- conversely, an interface issue between contractors can lead to a change proposal or VOR.
Interface Management is about “Making sure that nothing gets lost in the middle”.
An interface exists between any two (or more)
- Companies, projects or teams;
- plants or equipment;
- or anything
where there is a connection (which may be functional, or physical, or contractual).
